About Us

The Software Training Center (STC) was initiated in the fall 2003 by the Student Technology Intern Program (STIP) to offer FREE software training to all CCNY students. The STC offers training in all Microsoft Office applications, Pelican (general college E-mail application), DreamWeaver (web creation and management application), and software installations. Its innovation lies in its benefits extending to both students and employees.

Students have the opportunity to learn in a friendly atmosphere with state-of-the-art technology how to properly use and configure E-mail, the essential tools of Windows, how to:

In addition, students can learn how to properly install and remove major software, such as Microsoft Office applications.

To meet these goals, our staff continuously works hard to ensure that the services offered are of the highest quality and provided in a customer-friendly environment. The STIP creates opportunities for a selected group of undergraduates to become part of this staff and gain advanced skills in the use of computer software, the development of teaching skills, as well as, the use of advanced technology.

All student employees start their tenure with STC at entry-level positions and work their way up to advanced positions. Along the way, they may choose to move on to other departments to learn and practice new skills. STC employees are held to the highest standards by the STC supervising team, and perhaps more significantly, by their STC peers and students.

Training is one of the most valuable opportunities available to all STC employees. STC strives to develop experienced and professional students who upon graduation will have marketable and transferable skills. Training methods and topics are diverse and flexible to the STC student employees.
